Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Labcorp Collaborate for Pediatric Diagnosis

By Diagnostics World Staff

April 16, 2026 | Labcorp and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) announced this week that they will be entering a collaboration to advance the discovery and development of specialized pediatric diagnostics, as well as expand access to advanced diagnostic testing for children and families across the nation. Key clinical areas of focus include oncology, metabolic disease, and autoimmune conditions.

"By pairing CHOP's pediatric leadership with Labcorp's nationwide reach, we seek to deliver important new and specialized tests to children and their families more efficiently and at greater scale,” said Stephen R. Master, M.D., Ph.D., division chief and director of metabolic and advanced diagnostics at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, in a press release

Pediatric-specific diagnostics provide more precise, age-appropriate insights by considering children’s distinct biology, developmental stages, and physiological ranges—factors frequently overlooked by traditional tests designed for adults. The partnership centers on a joint pediatric diagnostics innovation pipeline, through which CHOP and Labcorp will work together to identify, develop, and scale new tests and technologies, streamlining the journey from discovery to nationwide availability.

Together, the two organizations will equip clinicians and health systems with state-of-the-art pediatric testing, advancing diagnostics in cancer, genetics, immune disorders, and rare diseases. By streamlining the path from scientific discovery to real-world use, the partnership aims to expand access to advanced pediatric diagnostics beyond a limited number of specialized center, enabling earlier and more precise diagnoses for patients.

"Labcorp and CHOP share a commitment to advancing pediatric care. By combining CHOP's deep pediatric expertise with Labcorp's scientific capabilities and national reach, we can bring pediatric diagnostic innovations to patients faster and make advanced testing accessible to many more families," said Bryan Vaughn, executive vice president, Diagnostics at Labcorp, in the same press release
